Gilles Baum was born in Mulhouse (France) in 1975. After studying Maths, he became a primary school teacher and, later, a children's author (he wrote his first books for young readers in the privacy of his kitchen). Today he lives, teaches and writes in Alsace.
Since 2013, he has published around thirty picture books (some of which also transleted in Italian, such as Pedala con me! and Tutto buio), two novels and four plays. In 2022, Fechamos (éditions des Eléphants, 2020), written by him and illustrated by Regis Lejonc, won the jury's mention at Bologna Ragazzi Award. Il sasso più bello is his first collaboration with Joanna Concejo.
