Cicadas

Marta likes: the smell of the sea; the sunny streets; her strange family from Naples; to throw things off the balcony; fantasizing. Her family is “strange” because of a nomadic spirit: they often change town and habits. She has a father and loves him madly. He always encouraged her to move, to explore. Mom is cheerful and independent, amnd she has a lot of friends who tell Marta the most extraordinary things. But this freedom, with all its wealth and beauty, conflicts with the duty of all children: going to the school. School is something Marta does not want to join. So she rebels, she gets sick, she despairs. But bit by bit, growing up, Marta realizes that things you do not like are not necessarily negative.
