What is a river?

A river is a journey. A singing spring, a crevasse in a glacier, a muddy swamp or a silent lake: that's where a river is born. In a moment. Then it starts to run. A girl observes what surrounds her on the river bank and asks many questions. Her grandmother is there to answer and she seems to know every secret of it. Together with these two characters, and through the voice and hand of Monika Vaicenaviciene, the reader will discover the rivers of the world and their extraordinary peculiarities - shapes, inhabitants, vegetation, animals, stories - growing into the awareness that everyone plays a role in preserving the environment.
