Simona Mulazzani was born in Milan, although now she lives and works in Pesaro, centre Italy. Her passion for drawing comes from her family. She started very young working for a graphic design studio, doing packaging and brand corporate identity. In 1989 she moved to Mix film studios, where she made award-winning TV commercials, animations and short films. Since 1994 she is well known for her picture books, starting with her illustrations for Giono’s and Sepulveda’s books (published by Salani). She has published over a hundred books so far, with major Italian publishers such as Mondadori, Salani, Topipittori, Panini, Rizzoli, Carthusia, Laterza, Guanda, Einaudi, and foreign publishers like Bayard Presse, Djeco, Sterling Publishing, Chronicle books, Penguin Random House etc. Her artwork has been exhibited in several solo and collective exhibitions in art galleries, art fairs and cultural institutions. She was awarded with: 2005 Silver Medal of NY Society of Illustrators; 2008 Premio Andersen as Best Book 0-6 years; 2010 Premio Emanuele Luzzati per l'illustrazione "Il gigante delle Langhe"; 2013 "The Original Art" Silver Medal of NY Society of Illustrators; 2016 Premio Andersen as Best Illustrator.
